City of Dreams is an original PCG by DGAME. It's the first game to feature The Dreamer, as well as the Dream World. It's also the first fully surrealistic/dream PCG, although many PCGs have had dream sequences. Thus far it has not inspired any sequels.
Story and Situation[]
Having just fallen asleep, a Dreamer finds himself dreaming of a dark world; looking around him, he's on a stone, circular platform. There are no walls or ceiling, but everything is dark and obscured all around. The area is surrounded by a fence, and three gates lead to three different paths. Somehow, in that 'dream-awareness', he knows that two of the paths will lead to a place that would end his life, while one would bring him somewhere else. But which path is it? And what awaits him, beyond the golden gates? The dreamer was filled with dread...
The Character[]
The Dreamer doesn't specifically remember who he is, but that's because he's not trying to. He's focused on the strange world around him, enough so that he doesn't realize that he lacks identity.
Allies[]
The Dreamer's imagination churns, but thus far no allies have been produced from it.
Villains[]
The Dreamer is hungry, and desperate to eat himself! The Dreamer must escape from a gigantic, hungry version of himself while fighting off the urge to consume the tiny, appetizing version of himself!
Rufter Von Bloodcurse, once an evil man, has now become the most evil of buildings known to the Dream City. Can the Dreamer survive his nightmarish wrath?
The Game[]
A surreal adventure into the dreamworld, in this game everything was literally out to get you. The game was of fair length and was more creepy than difficult, although it did have some hard puzzles.
Ending[]
The Dreamer has yet to wake up. Is he doomed to eternal sleep and nightmare?
