Frank, also known as the Dead Squid was a carcass found by Ari, abandoned on a table in a building in the forests of Shri. While dead, the dead squid has remained a constant and valued companion throughout Ari's sylvan squidisms. It has served as a sort of "team mascot".
More recently, the dead squid has been reanimated somehow, taking on the name "Frank".

Ari found the thing and added it to his inventory towards the end of the first leg of his explorations through the forest. It was stuck on the wall, along with other information about Ari. He made a point of taking it with him, even though there was no need to. (Squids in Forests Series: "Squids in Forests")
- If Ari - the player in real life - hadn't chosen to take the dead squid with him, it never would have turned into Frank or become a crucial part of later stories, as in Squids in Space.
The squid remained in his inventory as he explored the homelands of the miniature people. (Squids in Forests Series: "Further Sylvan Squidisms")
Things got dangerous for the dead squid on the third leg of Ari's foresty adventures. Ari put the squid in a hollow tree trunk to see how the animals living inside would react, but the squid survived this encounter.
But the Mysterious Statue was stalking Ari throughout this leg of the adventure, and soon cornered him -- along with a number of Crodin soldiers -- inside a crashed Crodin ship. Here, Ari and Cassie helped defend the ship overnight, but the Statue mowed down more and more soldiers. To help the group survive, Ari planted the dead squid to look like one of the soldiers. When the statue attacked, it ripped the dead squid apart, "killing" it. The squid gave its "life" to save others.(Squids in Forests Series: "Fried Calamari")
- In all of our research into the PCG archives, we've never encountered inventory items so heroic as the Dead Squid. He shall be remembered.

The Dead Squid has apparently returned to life, taking on the name "Frank" and now with a humanoid body; his original squid body is positioned as the head. He was seen captaining a starship which attacked Ari's ship and took Ari aboard. (Squids in Space: "FrankenSquid")
Xaq (Character) has to go through the events of Paper Computer Game (game) again, but the story is different, and Xaq had been in a dream the whole time, created by Frank/. (Paper Computer Game (Remake By: Epic Worlds PCG))
