Sloth was the sin name of an Umbrian, one of the Umbrian Councilors of the city of Babel. Before being converted to an Umbrian, he was a human man called Industria, living in Soluna and a councilor in the city of Diz.
History[]
Industria was the leader of the artisans and laborers for Babel, or the Department of Civic Works. He and Castitas worked closely together during the Golden Age project. He is a hard working man not only in physical labors but in mental activities too. He was wise and well educated.
Once the Basilica of Heaven was constructed, a statue of him appeared in a room across from another statue depicting Venia. Another statue of him also appeared along with the rest of the Councilors in another room. ("Genesis", "REGenesis")
Corruption & conversion[]
After Babel reached its Golden Age, he began languishing in the lack of work. Luxuries in life were everywhere, and the temptation was too difficult to shun.
When Diz was blasted out of Soluna due to the machinations of Modestus, the entire population of babel was converted into Umbrians including Industria. He became a lone umbrian in a catatonic state, longing for his lost power. Industria's new form was known by his sin, which was Sloth.
He was corrupted into a tengu mask wearing avian Umbrian after Gluttony. With his wings furled, he looks akin to an elderly man with robes, similar to what his next manifestation would look like (Ginkus). When Adam collected feathers from each bird in each district and gave them to Sloth, he transformed into his true avian self.
Indeed, by the time he encountered Adam, it seemed that Sloth had been "sleeping" for many years, his power divided amongst the birds which roamed the city. He may have had the ability to fight the darkness which consumed Babel, but he was far too tired. Once Adam supplied him feathers from all the birds in the city, he started flying around the city, but instead of fighting off the darkness, he blasted Adam. So Adam had to Save Game to undo empowering this monster. (Soul Symphony: "Exile")
