The Taurus Shard was one of thirteen incredibly powerful stones on Soluna, the result of a meteor strike eons ago[1]. Like its "brothers and sisters", the stone is sentient[2] and has immense power.
History[]
At some point, Almanqidh Al'awwal found the stone and hid it, fearful that its immense powers could lead to E'Dan's destruction. He was imprisoned for this action, but escaped. As he had feared, the stone's powers began to shatter the land, causing chunks of earth to rise into the air in defiance of gravity. (Soul Symphony: "Lost Testament")
Nature[]
Taurus, a Tear of the Goddess, is a large deep green diamond taking the shape of a leaf. Taurus is the aspect of the Goddess that represents her stubborn perseverance. Like all the other stones, Taurus will constantly try to impose it’s will on it’s wielder. In it’s slumbering state, Taurus will be an incredibly heavy stone for its size.
The stone is fickle when waking and lazy to boot, waiting for the right moment to unleash it's power. Times of physical and mental duress, surviving a particularly lethal blow, or anything that would generally result in the bearers death brings the stone to life.
Intelligent, it knows when it's being tricked into waking (such as purposefully trying to be gravely harmed for the sake of waking it), and is stubborn, as it will not hesitate to let it's wielder die should the stone be tested. The stone requires a crucial moment, usually short of martyrdom or heroic self-sacrifice in the name of the greater good, to awaken; a moment in which the stone protects it's wielder from their fate.
