The Shadow Realm was a secret base on the Moon belonging to The Shadow. It was guarded by The Guardian of the Shadow Realm, as well as a giant, green tentacled creature. In the airlock to the base, you become sleepy, and later wake up in a cell.
It turns out the moonbase is not the real Shadow Realm - the real one is an alternate universe - but a decoy, intended to trap people who come looking for the Shadow. ("PCG Anniversary Special II")

Alton infiltrated the base, only to be captured and put into the cell, where he eventually gave up hope upon realizing there was no way to escape. Xaq was later imprisoned in the cell, and when he awoke, he used the cell's comm system to contact Gron-Fresnell as well as Bride of Perfecto, who organized an escape for him, after having a date with each other.
